This is a series of 1.5 week exercises in which we designed 1,200 square feet homes. These quick exercises were to help us understand and draw smaller scale living spaces before moving on to designing a large-scale 60+ unit collective housing development.
First was a warm-up drawing exercise in which I chose to draw a Nicholson 32 sailboat. Then was the horizontal home which was required to be a single story with 25% outdoor courtyard space. Next was the vertical home which was to have a 250 SF footprint, then grow upward. Lastly, was the sectional home which was to have the same footprint, but then grow up and out, sort of like a mushroom.
